Go Get Glow ...

This was the name of the session which we had yesterday thanks to the company arrangements. It was for an hour at the end of the day. Usually I never have time to attend these, but yesterday because one of my colleague insisted, I attended the session. I thought it will be a standard session on skin care or something, but instead it was more towards well being of a person as a whole. He was a Dr. Patwardhan, he knew how to drive home a point through humor. One great concept he explained was regarding - relationships.

In Relationships there is no place for a word called 'Understanding'. He mentioned it gave him great irritation to see his wife on phone all the time. This was very troublesome, and he spent years trying to 'understand' why she was like this. Then after reading a book, he bumped across this concept to replace the word 'understanding' with 'Acceptance'. Now his wife phone conversations do not trouble him because he has 'Accepted' her as she is. I am beginning to understand the utility of this concept in many situations which are not worth the trouble.

As your shoulder bones will be damaged by holding a weight for extended time periods, so does the mind gets tired by holding a particular thought for long. The only solution for the shoulder pain is keep the weights down, similarly the only solution for a tired mind is to keep the thought down. This is applicable for good as well as bad thoughts. If I am a first ranker in Board exam, the thought is great but if I hold the same for months and months together then I am stuck, and might also land up in asylum! The ideas were good, at least worth pondering.

Other recommendations ... 30 min daily walk, only 2 servings of cooked food per day, other servings can be fruits or other natural items, once a day enter the "classroom of silence" at least for few min. A concept to be by yourself and meditate on the present. Another self test to guage the strength of your heart muscles. Take a deep breath and hold your breath. If you can only hold it for 25 sec or less you are a pauper. Upto 45 sec you are a middle class person, Up to 1 min you are a lakhpati and if you can hold it for over a min, then you are a crorepati in terms of health of your heart.
