I am sure some of you might have visited Israel, but I thought let me put down some of my experiences. First and foremost I was not that excited about the visit considering all the news splash around that region. However when I actually came here it was altogether adifferent experience. The country is really beautiful. People are great. From the taxi driver to the guide who took us around Jerusalem or 'decotel' as they call it were really nice and friendly.
The place of worship, there is one building which is the holy place for 3 religions! I knew that Fri/Sat are off for our Israel branch, but when I came here I came to know that almost half of Tel Aviv is closed, they call it the Shabath. A way to greet people on Thursday is 'shabath shalom' basically means have a peaceful weekend. In the process I picked on some Hebrew too. The beer which I liked was 'Gold Star' they have other beer too but as one of my Israeli friend put is - it tastes like shxx :) Dead Sea was really one of a kind experience. You can sit in the sea and read newspaper! The density of the water does not allow you to sink. There are lot of beauty products created out of thedead sea minerals, I took some mud packs etc .. (onthe recommendation of my wife).
The interesting part was, the taxi driver who took usto Jerusalem was not allowed to take us to Bethlehem, it seems Bethlehem was in Palestine so he took us to his Arab friend who then drove us to Bethlehem, that was a great experience as well. It was one of a kind experience to visit the birth place as well as the place where Christ was crucified. Even today some men take a wooden cross and walk across the path. I have tons ofpictures which I will share in my spare time. Until then ..... Shalom!
